Privacy
PadKeys pairs with the helper over your local network. The helper shows a QR code, and the iPad connects directly to your own laptop.
How pairing works
PadKeys connects your iPad and your laptop over your own local network. The helper app on your laptop shows a QR code, and the iPad scans it to connect directly to that laptop. There is no manual IP address or port to enter.
What is sent
While you are connected, PadKeys sends keyboard and pointer events to the paired helper so it can type and move the cursor on your laptop. These events travel between your iPad and your laptop on your local network.
No cloud account
No helper cloud account is required to pair and use PadKeys. Pairing is done locally by scanning the helper's QR code.
Why permissions are needed
Permissions are needed only so the helper can send keyboard and mouse input on your laptop:
- macOS: Accessibility permission lets the helper send keyboard and mouse input.
- Windows: Local network (Firewall) access lets the iPad reach the helper to connect.
Payments
PadKeys offers a 14-day free trial that starts after the first successful connection. After the trial, PadKeys Pro is available as a one-time lifetime purchase inside the iPad app, handled by Apple. There is no web checkout, and the website does not process payments.
